This doesn't end in a good way for her as she falls into addiction and becomes homeless. Rather than follow in the footsteps of other residents, she refuses to take the black pill. Paulson’s character in the first part of the season, Tuberculosis Karen, was also looking for inspiration, but she was an artist rather than a writer. Instead, the town’s residents take black pills which do give them creativity, but it has one downside: they became vampiric-like as they develop a thirst for blood. However, they find out that the “creativity” the town has is not true. Therefore, he takes his family and goes to a New England town that is known for giving its residents creativity this is exactly what Gardner needs. We see the character of Harry Gardner, played by Finn Wittrock, who is a struggling writer looking for his inspiration. The first part that appears is called Red Tide. This was a new technique that the show deployed. Both of her most recent characters appear in Season 10 of the show, titled Double Feature because it is divided into two parts. Tuberculosis Karen is one of the last two characters that Paulson played in AHS. All of these events show how far Paulson’s character here changed from a weak and anxiety-ridden woman to a malicious and dangerous one who kills her wife just to keep their son for herself. Adding to the character development, Ally also runs for Senate. But she quickly changes sides again as she decides to help the FBI take down the cult because she believed that Oz was in danger. She joins Kai Anderson, played by Evan Peters, and his cult. All the pressure put on Ally whether from her wife or others around her led to a complete shift in her character. We see her wife, Ivy, badly treating her because Ally voted for Jill Stein in 2016 instead of voting for Hilary Clinton this aligns with the political elements we see like Ally’s anxiety toward the Trump administration. While at first, Ally can only be seen as a victim of her phobias and mistreatment, her behavior quickly changes. The drama starts when she decides to stop taking her medications which only increases the tension in the following events. She is married to Ivy, played by Allison Pill, and they have a son named Oz, played by Cooper Dodson. We get to know Ally as this woman who has several phobias like the fear of holes and the fear of clowns. In Cult, she plays the role of Ally Mayfair-Richards whose story was filled with plot twists. This role proved that Paulson can convince you either to completely hate her or to cheer for her as she takes revenge against those who wronged her.ĭespite Season 7, titled Cult, not being among the best ones of American Horror Story seasons, Paulson still delivered an excellent performance. This hate only increases when Venable tells her partner-in-crime, Miriam Mead, that she wasn't chosen to go to the Sanctuary, only for Mead to tell her to kill everyone and still go Venable does kill them. This was rather than her receiving the rules from someone who has a higher position. The audience's hate toward her only increases when they find out that many of the rules the outpost had were ones created by her. Not only was she blinded by her authority and power, but she also believed that she was doing what was best for everyone. She is a fierce leader who has a lust for power, and she acts only to increase it. Venable is the leader of Outpost 3 where some of those who survived the apocalypse lived. However, Venable is truly a villain, one that Paulson played way too well. Venable gave Paulson the chance to change her AHS skin since she usually didn't villains in the show. Not just anyone can portray two characters in the same season and make you believe that you are watching completely different people Paulson managed to do so.ĪHS’s eighth season, titled Apocalypse, included Paulson playing the character of Wilhelmina Venable. This performance and the Shelby Miller one are both excellent. Now the British actress, who doubted that the house had any supernatural stuff happening, faces her own horror story. She finds herself up against the Polk family who can only be described as violent and vile. There is more to the story as Audrey herself faces terrifying and weird events while she was at the Roanoke home playing the character of Shelby. Audrey can easily be described as an insecure and also a narcissistic actress who at many times appears to be funny. Here, Paulson plays the role of Audrey Tindall, a British actress who weirdly enough plays the real-life character of Shelby Miller in a series called My Roanoke Nightmare. Audrey Tindall is the second character we mentioned.
